The other day Emilie (Em Bee) was asking if there were tulips up at our house. I asked Dad, as Em had planted TONS of them before she left in December hoping that they would come up in the Spring.
From the Window Dad said he wasn't able to see any in bloom, so I assumed that maybe just the foliage had come up. A few days later, Dad reported that there were no tulips to be found. Mystery? Probably not. Probably some of those four-legged-pests I talked about all the time in the summer.
Although there are no tulips, mum was more than smart enough to put in perennials that the deer on our property don't like to eat. Thankfully, most of them have survived our annual ignorance for the last while. Dad sent some pictures the other day! They made my day and I hope they make yours!

Ooop. Yep. The deer didn't miss this one. |
In other 'homemaker news', I finished another quilt! I may have posted pictures of the early stages of it before, but it is done now! There is a program in our Faculty that sends students to Thailand and Cambodia called 'Play Around the World'. One of my good friends is going this year and to contribute to the cause, I decided to make a quilt rather than a financial donation. Needless to say I am very happy how it turned out, and it almost went for about what it cost me! A great opportunity to practice some quilting techniques on a very simple quilt. Have a look!
Read: I did NOT hand stitch this. That would be ridiculous. Sewing machines are smart enough to do this themselves these days. |
The finished product! |

The winner! She really looks like she is happy to have it! And that makes me happy! |
