Life's a Beach!

Literally! These past few days I've been speeding around the Island, and the bigger Island (Vancouver Island) showing two very special visitors from Edmonton what this place is like. Having visitors always means that you get to take the time to do things that you don't normally get to do: extending your stay at the market instead of the usual breeze - by, hitting all of the best vantage points, and making more than spontaneous choices about how you spend your days. Truly a vacation from the everyday!

Dad and Sam have flown coop for a few days off to the East Coast for a family reunion, and Em and I are here holding down the fort. Some days though, I think Garrett does a better job at holding down the fort than the two of us girls. Oh well!

With my very special visitors this past long weekend, we decided to be ridiculous and spend 24 precious hours in Tofino (outside of travel time) - despite the fact that there are many other gorgeous beaches in the area, Tofino is almost a must for anyone. In ways I feel like we did Garrett a favor for getting out of the house - he'd had two full days of girl talk while trying to work . . . no word of a lie!

I have a couple photos (and possibly another type of media) to throw at you soon about the progress: the floor downstairs is almost DONE! and making me relax a bit more at the prospect that it will return to a home, the beets in the garden popped up today, and some of the baby birds that dad once disturbed are now almost ready to leave the nest. Em and I are also in the process of starting to plan this potential garden party!

In the mean time, here's a picture of the beach:

Surfing in Cox Bay!

Gotta go! It's late and because the only light that is on is my bedside table, I am being attacked  by moths! Wheres' the cat when you need it?!
